About the SHERIE HILDRETH OVARIAN CANCER FOUNDATION

The Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer (SHOC) Foundation is dedicated to funding ovarian cancer research, raising awareness to drive early detection and prevention, and providing survivors with resources to feel empowered in their fight. Through groundbreaking research initiatives and strategic partnerships, the SHOC Foundation strives to improve outcomes and save lives.

THE SHOC STORY

The Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer (SHOC) Foundation is a 100% volunteer-operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon. In October 2004, Sherie Hildreth was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Sherie was more than a woman with ovarian cancer – she was a force. She wanted to change the outcome, and more than that, she wanted to change the world. Her spirit, her fight, her vision lit the path forward. As an educator, Sherie felt compelled to understand her disease and raise awareness. The more she learned, the more determined she was to survive and make a difference in the lives of other women. This life-altering experience motivated Sherie to create the SHOC Foundation in 2005, with all funds raised directed to local ovarian cancer research. To date, SHOC has donated over $1.475 million to advance ovarian and gynecologic cancer research under the direction of Dr. Tanja Pejovic. Sherie passed away in 2009, but her vision lives on through the work of her family, friends, and supporters.
